Origin:
The lions started their cricket journey in the era of 1880’s by the name of Ceylon National cricket team. The Ceylon national cricket team achieved associate member status of the International Cricket Council in 1965 which got renamed Sri Lanka in 1972.

- First and only sub-continent team to win a Test series in South Africa was awarded to Sri Lanka.
