Origin:
The lions started their cricket journey in the era of 1880’s by the name of Ceylon National cricket team. The Ceylon national cricket team achieved associate member status of the International Cricket Council in 1965 which got renamed Sri Lanka in 1972. Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

  • Sri Lanka played their first ever ODI against Windies in 1975 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
  • They scored 443 against Netherlands in 2006 which was considered the maximum for Lankans.
TEST MATCH RECORDS:
  • They scored a heavy team total of 952/6 against India in 1997.
  • First and only sub-continent team to win a Test series in South Africa was awarded to Sri Lanka.
COACHING STAFF:
  • Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha will be the guiding force for the LIONS.
